Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a sweeping nationwide crackdown on money laundering and hawala-hundi networks, directing authorities to trace illicit financial trails and act decisively against major offenders.

The directives were issued during his visit to the Federal Investigation Agency Karachi Zone, where he reviewed operational performance and chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials overseeing enforcement operations.

During the briefing, the minister stressed that all money trails linked to laundering must be fully uncovered, adding that enforcement actions should remain visible, indiscriminate, and free from any form of external pressure.

Furthermore, he ordered strict action against agent networks involved in human smuggling, saying those deceiving citizens with false overseas job promises must face firm punishment under the law.

He also directed authorities to intensify operations against counterfeit medicine rings, warning that fake drugs pose serious public health risks and require immediate, coordinated enforcement across relevant jurisdictions.

Officials informed the meeting that 20 human smugglers were arrested in four months, with non-custom-paid goods and drugs worth Rs140 million seized, while a facilitation centre was established at Karachi Airport.
