The court convicts 62-year-old Humala of money laundering after receiving money from the Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht to finance his presidential campaigns in 2006 and 2011.
His wife is also convicted. In total, the couple received three million dollars in illegal contributions, according to the verdict.
Humala, who was president from 2011 to 2016, is one of four former Peruvian presidents linked to illegal payments from Odebrecht.
Alejandro Toledo was sentenced to 20 years in prison last year. Alan García committed suicide in 2019 when the police came to arrest him. Pedro Pablo Kuczynski is still under investigation.
Odebrecht admitted in 2016 that at least 29 million dollars had been paid in bribes to Peruvian authorities between 2005 and 2014.
